Course Description
The WTSMS Symposium provides a forum for Sports Medicine Specialists to learn about and discuss concepts related preventing, treating, and rehabilitating injured athletes and patients. Student programming separate, including lectures, labs, and Student Athletic Training Aids Quiz Bowl.
Course Objectives
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize past and present concepts in ACL treatment and rehabilitation and understand new concepts in the future of treating patients with ACL injuries.
2. Understand best practices for using manual therapy techniques with athletes and patients, including IASTM and dry needling.
3. Study the nature of certain injuries through the examination of shoulder instability and a case study of a Rodeo related injury.
4. Recognize psychological issues athletes face including anxiety, depression, and disordered eating.Â
